A couple of weeks ago, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing the Zacher family in Forest Park. Their three kids are all grown now, and two of them brought their spouses along for the session, which made it feel like a full family celebration. They were all in town together in St. Louis for the week and decided to mark the occasion with updated family photos—such a perfect way to capture this season of life.

It was one of those evenings that photographers dream of—bright, sunny, and full of that warm, golden light that makes everything glow. We started our session walking through a beautiful nature path filled with tall grasses and native wildflowers, then made our way to a nearby pond where the sunlight danced and shimmered across the water.

The Zachers were such a blast to hang out with. Everyone was so easygoing and full of laughter, which made the entire evening feel relaxed and fun. You could tell how much they enjoy being together—it came through in every smile and every candid moment.

Sessions like this one are such a joy for me. There’s something really special about photographing grown families—it’s less about wrangling kids and more about capturing the deep bonds, the humor, and the history that hold everyone together. The Zachers made it easy, and I left the park that night with a full heart and a memory card full of sunshine.
