What a joy it is to photograph the Chen family each year! I’ve had the privilege of capturing their family for several seasons now, and it’s always such a treat to see how their girls have grown.

We met up for their Mini Session on September 21st at Lafayette Square Park. The morning felt like the very first taste of fall we’ve had after weeks of relentless heat here in St. Louis. The cool breeze and golden light made for the perfect morning.

I always look forward to seeing Christine and Sean—they’re such kind, gentle parents, and their love for their girls shines through every time I photograph them. Their daughters, Gretchen and Ingrid, are as sweet as can be. (And yes, I have a special soft spot for Gretchen—sharing a name with someone always feels like a fun connection!) Ingrid was full of smiles and curiosity, and both girls were so easygoing.

I loved capturing these tender family moments: the way the girls held hands, the playful giggles, and those natural smiles that come so easily with the Chens. Watching families grow year after year is one of the best parts of this job.
